"World flyweight champion Horacio Accavallo of Argentina won his third title fight Saturday night with a narrow split decision over Japanese challenger Hiroyuki Ebihara. Accavallo carried the fight to Ebihara and opened a cut over his right eye in four different rounds. The Japanese was forced to abandon an early round offensive and seek openings with his lightning right jab. Ebihara penetrated Accavallo's defense several times and shook the Argentine champion, but by the end of the 3rd Ebihara began to tire and Accavallo took the offensive with hooks to the head which drew blood from Ebihara's right eye in the 3rd, 7th, 10th and 13th rounds. Ebihara opened a cut over Accavallo's left eye in the 10th but otherwise the champion was unmarked." -Associated Press
