Bout was stopped between the 8th and 9th rounds, when Courchesne suffered a temporary convulsion and collapsed in his corner. The ring doctor felt it was caused by heat exhaustion, caused by excessive heat. Courchesne who was knocked down in the 5th and 7th, led on two judges scorecards at the time of the stoppage. On July 29th he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain. His record reported as 55-8-2.
