Franklin staggered Hardcastle with a left hook to the jaw in the 1st round, and then later dropped him for no-count with a right hand to the jaw. Franklin dominated Hardcastle in the 2nd round, and dropped him hard at the end of the round, with the bell saving him from a knockout at the count of eight. Hardcastle was in bad shape to start the 3rd round, and was sent through the ropes by a right hand. A spectator broke his fall, and pushed him back into the ring, where he fell on his knees, and sagged forward, before being counted out.
