According to the Los Angeles Times, Callahan won seven rounds, Chong two, and one was even. Callahan scored a brief knockdown in the 2nd round, when he landed a right to the chin. Chong had his best round in the 5th, when he sent Callahan backward with a right to the mouth. The punche opened a cut on Callahan's lips. Chong appeared to lose his way in the second half of the fight, as Callahan landed effectively to the midsection.
