LaRosa opened the bout with a fast pace, but was unable to sustain his attack, as DeMarco dominated from the 5th round onward. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, felt that DeMarco appeared out of shape, but that he was able to take control of things as LaRosa fought flat-footed in the latter part of the bout.
