"Sheppard almost KO'd in the fifth round, his seconds wanted to throw in the towel, but he refused and managed to last the ten rounds." The Boston Herald, was a bit more dismissive of Goldstein's performance, though having him a clear winner, they felt that he was unable to land a "terrific right hand" all night, due to Sheppard's cleverness.
