King had an edge in the early part of the bout, but Marullo began to rally in the 5th and 6th rounds. In the latter half of the 7th round, King began throwing low blows. In the 8th round, King landed a hard low blow that put Marullo down, and unable to continue. William A. Coker, spokesman for the Boxing Commission, announced that King would be indefinitely suspended and his purse withheld. King never appeared again in his hometown, so it appears he was never licensed again in New Orleans.
