Summary
On the preliminary bout to the Khan-Prescott main event in a fight card held at MEN arena in Manchester, England, Nicky Cook of Essex, England, won the WBO super featherweight championship in a minor upset over defending champion Alex Arthur of Scotland over twelve hard fought rounds. Cook appeared to win the first three rounds on points by outjabbing Arthur, who came back in the fourth with alot of left jabs and body shots that landed and had Cook in trouble. Cook won the fifth, Arthur the sixth, Cook the seventh until late in the round when Arthur rocked him with a right hand just before the bell. The battle continued to seesaw back and forth in center ring, and appeared very close through eleven. Cook came out in the twelfth and took the fight to the champion by throwing everything he had left in the tank to try to win the round, and the fight, and did.
