Boon knocked Takeshita down four times in the 1st round, though he did not appear hurt after any of the knockdowns he would suffer in the bout. Takeshita carried the fight to Boon in the 2nd round, but was floored for a fifth time by a left-right to the chin. Takeshita began to work Boon's body following the fifth knockdown, and had driven Boon to a corner as the bell rang to end the 2nd. Boon appeared fresh to begin the 3rd round, until Takeshita knocked him out with a left hook to the pit of the stomach.
