Jimmy Perry was in Panama City under the name "Billy Berry" looking for fights in late August of 1913, though it is hard to find records of his bouts. Fellow Pittsburgh boxer Buck Crouse was there at the same time and fought a number of boxers, though for the most part, only his bouts with American boxers were recorded by the US newspapers.

Abe Hollandersky had defeated Jack Ortega for Panamanian Heavyweight Champion in Panama City in May, and had won a rematch with him in mid-August.
