The ringside physician and Ryan's chief second agreed to stop the bout after the 5th round was completed. Ryan was bleeding profusely from his left eyebrow and reeled to his corner at the end of the 5th round. Olson knocked Ryan down with one of his first punches of the bout, a right hand to the chin. Ryan went down a total of four times in the 1st round. Ryan was down briefly in the 5th round.
