- Date: 1949-12-20

- Referee: Charley Daggert 4-2
- Judge: Pete Pantaleo 4-2
- Judge: Harry Zaslow 4-2
This fight is listed as an exhibition in the records of the boxers, but the report in the Philadelphia Inquirer (Jack Kincaid) shows that an official decision was rendered, although Williams's lightweight title was not at stake. Referee Charley Daggert and Judges Pete Panatela and Harry Zaslow "all turned in 4-2 scores." Taylor "weaved, bobbed and battered the titleholder with left hooks and right swings to the head that frequently drove Williams to the ropes." Williams won the first two and the last two rounds but "was pounded violently in the third and fourth." Taylor weakened from Williams's body punching in the last two rounds and had all he could do to stay upright. "Williams donated his services" and "Frank Palermo, local manager of boxers, including Williams, paid all the other purses which amounted to approximately $1200."
