Roberts had been knocked down in the 9th. As he was holding on in the 10th trying to survive to the finish, referee Joe Gorman attempted to break a clinch between the two fighters. As Gorman pushed Roberts away, he fell tumbling through the ropes out of the ring, and was unable to continue.
