Jack Britton 128 lbs lost to Steve Kinney 128 lbs by KO at 2:30 in round 1 of 6

  • Date: 1905-10-20
  • Location: Panorama Building, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
  • In the second bout Jack Britton, the real one according to Bill Phelon, made a sorry spectacle of himself before Steve Kenney. Britton looked fit for about anything besides the ring battle, and the boys had hardly reached the center of the ring before he began inspecting the canvas for a soft spot, and after trying several, discovered some curious little spots which he wished to inspect more closely. So he decided to lay there for a little while, and in two minutes and thirty seconds after the first bell, Kenney was declared the winner. By Brownie. In his side column, he states, “If that was the real Jack Britton, thank you, we will have the imitation.” [Milwaukee Journal, Saturday, Oct 21, 1905, Milwaukee, WI Page:9]
