Ramey decisively defeated Berlier, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, taking seven rounds, with Berlier winning two. Ramey dominated the first three rounds, as he feinted Berlier, and then countered him. Berlier had his best rounds in the 4th and 5th round, before tiring after that. The last seven rounds were marred by wrestling, and holding and hitting by Ramey.
