Matty Brock 136 lbs beat Johnny Cook 134 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1932-03-21
- Location: Coliseum Arena, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
- Referee: Jimmy Moran
Cook knocked Brock down for a nine-count in the 1st round, and had the better of the bout in the first half, while Brock did box better in the latter half. The New Orleans Times-Picayune felt this was a bad decision, scoring the bout 6-3-1 in rounds for Cook. After the decision was given, Cook's brother-manager Joe Cook threw a soda bottle that hit referee Moran in the head. Cook was arrested and charged with assault, but was released after Moran failed to appear at the precinct. Joe Cook reportedly had prior animosity towards Moran, as he alleged that Moran had coached Jack Lewis in Italian when Cook was fighting him.
