From the Dayton Journal (Herb Goldman). "The scrap was even more sensational than their previous meetings." Sekyra took "a terrific lacing" from Alabama in the first two rounds. This included a no-count knockdown in the second round. "Sekyra went berserk early in the next frame. Whipping in everything he had..the local ringman sent the Kid spinning to the resin for the count of nine with a hard, bruising right. As Alabama staggered to his feet, Joe..was right on him with another terrific punch that again spilled him to the canvas. This time the Dover scrapper was up at the count of seven and managed to hold on for the few remaining seconds of the round. Sekyra put the (Kid) out of the picture in exactly 34 seconds of the fourth round, measuring him off with a hard, straight right to the chin after having dropped him with a similar punch earlier in the frame. Sekyra had a big weight advantage."
