According to The Ring, January 1936, page 53, "Johnny Higgins, Oakland, Iowa, was indefinitely suspended after the Louisiana Boxing Commission charged he crudely 'dived' to..Berlier." This may be the same Higgins who had fought in Oregon earlier, because no "Johnny Higgins" from Iowa has yet been identified. He had been identified as a Los Angeles boxer in the November 4, 1935 New Orleans Times-Picayune. Higgins had at least boxed in Southern California before.
