It appeared that Spina had great difficulty adjusting to 41 year old southpaw Del Valle's fighting style. Long Island's Del Valle, 36-6-2, 22 kos, who won the WBA Light Heavyweight title with an eighth round stoppage of Eddy Smulders in September 1997, became better known as a professional boxing trainer.
