In the preliminary to Small-McDonough main event, Anthony Crolla ended the comeback attempt of Michael Brodie in the third round. Crolla won the first round with body work. The second round was close. In the third, Crolla was landing overhand rights at will that had Brodie on shaky legs. Crolla wrestled Brodie to the canvas at one point, then continued the assault when he got up. Crolla dropped Brodie in the third with a right-left combination followed by an overhand right. Brodie beat the count at nine, but was out on his feet when the referee stopped it.
