Clarence 'Sonny Bono' Taylor of Wilmington, Delaware, and Keenan Collins of York, Pennsylvania, fought to a brief but bloody light middleweight no-contest. After the opening bell, trainer Marshall Kaufman at ringside in the Kennan Collins corner began immediately screaming and shouting that Taylor (the opponent) was leaning with his head in the ring. Seconds after that, this brief fight ended at 1:21 of the opening round due to a clash of heads and was immediately was ruled a no-contest due to a very wide and deep cut over the left eye of Keenan Collins that was ruled an accidental headbutt. Clarence Taylor, the other fighter, was also cut, with a deep gash on the top of his head caused by the same headbutt. Collins had to go to the hospital afterwards to get internal stitches on the cut, as well as external stitches. Taylor's cut was stitched up in the dressing room, but he was advised to get checked by his physician just to make sure the cut didn't need internal stitches as well. One of the corner men at ringside remarked Taylor's head was neatly shaved 'exactly to accomplish its objective'. However, the headbutt did appear to be accidental while both fighters were battling in center ring exchanging blows at close quarters.
