In a light welterweight bout closer than the scoring indicated, Hylton Williams Jr. of Houston, Texas, showed combinations with great hand speed to win a unanimous decision over veteran Humberto Tapia of Baja California, Mexico. The majority of this bout was a toe-to-toe war. Williams had a great defense, preventing Tapia from landing significant blows. However, Williams, who had the bout won on points, began to after the fifth, allowing Tapia, who never stopped throwing, to get back into the fight somewhat with body shots.

Because of a managerial change, Williams will sit out the next 15 months before resuming boxing, according to the Feb. 3, 2012, ESPN Friday Night Fights TV program.
