Pirrone battered McVey in the first round, and put him down for a nine-count. Pirrone continued his onslaught in the 2nd round, and put McVey down again for no-count. Pirrone tired in the 3rd round, and McVey fought on even terms with him through the 7th round. Pirrone got a burst of energy in the 8th round, and again pummeled McVey over the last three rounds, scoring a third knockdown in the 10th round.
