Gans seemed to have the best of the action in the first two rounds, as he stunned McVey with a right hand in the second. Gans eased up after that, and allowed McVey to control the action. Gans rallied strongly in the last two rounds. The Wilkes-Barre Record, felt that the worst McVey deserved was a draw.
