Salerno hurt Roche with a left and right to the head in the 6th round, that sent him reeling. Salerno attacked Roche on the follow-up, while Roche held on desperately to Salerno. After the referee broke Roche's embrace, he stopped the bout.
Salerno had been trailing up until the 5th round, when he began his rally.
