Montana was too fast for Ortiz in the first seven rounds, as he scored with jabs and made Ortiz miss many punches. Ortiz was able to catch Montana in the last three round, and had him on wobbly legs at the end. Referee Bottaro gave Ortiz the 5th, 9th, and 10th rounds, while Montana was given the rest. Montana lost the 5th round on a foul.
