In the Mohegan Sun 'Hometown Heroes' main event, fighting at the middleweight limit of 160, Manfredo landed many jabs which found the target, with the smaller Hernandez trying to counter and putting on relentless pressure. Hernandez took a lot of punches though, and slowly began to tire. In the tenth, Hernandez was getting taking a lot of punches, ending with a hard left hook to the right side of the head, prompting the stoppage by referee Steve Smoger. After this bout, Hernandez' manager, Wasfi Tolaymat, stated Hernandez was offered an IBO world title bout at 154, where the fighter is more comfortable fighting at, and he would consider the offer after his fighter had recovered from this bout. Ex-junior welterweight contender Irish Mickey Ward was at ringside.
