In a scheduled six rounder, middleweight Mike Tiberi used a wide mix of shots to wear down his opponent, mostly jab combinations to the head and body. Bernard came forward and landed a few counters, but he was taking a lot of punishment and got dropped twice near the end of the third round. He beat the count both times, but appeared dazed and unable to continue after getting up the second time at the end of round three at 3:00, so the referee stopped it.
