Steven Badgley 172 lbs lost to Angel Gonzalez 172 lbs by TKO at 1:55 in round 1 of 4

In a strange but brief light heavyweight bout at The Theater at Madison Square Garden which opened to a parade of flags and soldiers, 0-2 Carlito Gonzalez of Yonkers twisted one of his knees early in round one and slipped to the canvas in injury. Gonzalez got up, however, and landed a flurry of punches to drop debuting Steve Badgley, an Iraqi War veteran out of Fort Drum, Watertown, New York. Badgley beat the count, so Gonzalez sprinted across the ring and landed another flurry, sending Bagley face first to the canvas, out cold. Badgley's problem was that he was shorter and and had a shorter reach than his opponent, and tried to engage in a toe-to-toe slugfest with Gonzalez in center ring, who used his reach advantage to land numerous head shots early on and end the bout early.
