In a Super Lightweight bout on the Calderon-Uribe fight card at Madison Square Garden which was hard fought and competitive between two fighters with no knockouts, technical fighter Gabriel Bracero of Brooklyn, New York, won a unanimous six round decision over Philadelphia's Julius Edmonds, who gave a good accounting of himself. Bracero, now 10-0, all by decision, won all six rounds behind lightning fast left jabs that scored consistently in every round. Bracero also landed straight rights over a low Edmonds left a number of times. Edmonds, an unorthodox fighter who hit harder, threw punches while coming forward putting on pressure on Bracero all night, and landed some counter rights over a low Bracero left in the first three rounds. Bracero settled down in rounds 4, 5 and 6, landing more as Edmonds was came forward walking into punches. Edmonds, 7-7, took a great shot, kept throwing and 'was in the house'.
