Dominick Carter 191 lbs lost to Martin Verdin 199 lbs by TKO in round 2 of 6
- Date: 2010-06-19
- Location: The Sugar Mill, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
- Referee: Kenny Licata
In a battle of Louisiana cruiserweights, former IBA light heavyweight champion Dominick Carter, age 44 and ten years inactive, failed in his comeback attempt against 'Smiling' Martin Verdin, age 34, a fighter with a winning record and a winner of three of his last five pro bouts, including winning a ten round decision in his last outing. Verdin, weighed in at 199 and showed up as an in shape heavyweight at fight time. Verdin wasted no time, using jabs and power punches to batter the slower, defenseless Carter for a round and a half before the referee called a stop to the contest in the second. The original scheduled opponents, former IBA light heavyweight champion Rocky Gannon (the first opponent), and light heavyweight James Johnson (the second opponent, and a loser of 13 straight), did not clear the Louisiana Boxing Commission.
