Newton Kidd 190 lbs drew with Patrick Farrell 197 lbs by MD in round 6 of 6

Patrick Farrell of Jersey City, New Jersey, battled to a six round cruiserweight draw with Newton Kidd of Bronx, New York. After a cautious first, the bout proceeded as a no defense slugfest from round 2 on. Both fighters stood in front of each other and threw everything they had at each other. After the third round, both fighters looked winded, but the bout's furious pace continued. Kidd had Farrell in big trouble in the fifth round with power shots, but Farrell would not fall. In a reversal of fortune, Farrell regained a second wind in the sixth, and had Kidd in trouble with good power jabs, but Kidd survived. It appeared to press at ringside perhaps Farrell won the bout in the sixth and final round, but overall the bout appeared close.. Overall, it was an entertaining even match which pleased the crowd, as the two fighters gave their all. Farrell cut above the right eye by a head butt at some point, but the cut was not a factor. Farrell now 5-1-1, 3 kayos. Kidd now 7-7-2, 4 kayos. In the post fight interview, Farrell noted "I was in good shape. I lost the fifth round, so I came back and won the sixth." Two judges scored the bout 57-57, resulting in a majority draw.
