Middleweight Willie Monroe Jr., whose great uncle is Willie Monroe, went to 9-0 by stopping Loren Myers after four rounds of a scheduled six. Myers had not yet healed from a forehead cut (which was not stitched at the time) caused by an accidental headbutt which forced the stoppage of his previous bout May 22, 2010, in Atlantic City against Patrick Majewski. The previous wound from the Atlantic City bout reopened in the fourth round of this bout, with blood from the cut between Myers eyebrows pouring out nonstop, necessitating a stoppage between rounds. Myers received stitches in the dressing room from the ringside surgeon, who stated he would recommend Myers receive a 90 day suspension to allow sufficient time for the stitched wound to properly heal.
