In a light welterweight matchup, Bracero scored the first knockout of his career in this win. Using overhand lefts, and hitting with power for the first time in his career, Bracero knocked down Betancort in the first, second and fourth rounds. Mendez was getting hit a great deal, and could not penetrate Bracero's defense in center ring, Bracero not getting hit. A left right combination by Bracero sent Betancourt face first to the canvas near the end of round four, prompting the referee to call an immediate halt to the contest.
