In the main event of a seven bout card held at Aviator Arena at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York, former Columbia southpaw super flyweight contender Reynaldo Lopez, a now fighting out of Santa Fe Springs, California, won the vacant New York State Super Bantamweight championship with a first round stoppage over Panama's former WBO Bantamweight champion ten years forgotten, Mauricio Martinez, now fighting out of Brooklyn, New York. Three knockdowns early in the first round ended the contest. Martinez, who held the title ten years ago, had nothing left. Lopez immediately threw combinations and flurries of straight lefts and rights and hooks which dropped ex-champion Martinez twice. Martinez beat the count both times, but his legs were gone. Martinez did not get up after Lopez knocked him down the third time.
The original main event and under card scheduled for this fight card, a New York state light heavyweight bout with Ronson Frank, and a welterweight bout with Sadam Ali, were both scratched from the original card as their opponents did not clear the New York State Boxing Commission. Ronson Frank and Sadam Ali were in attendance, along with Junior Jones, Monte Barrett, USBA heavyweight champion Maurice Harris, NABF female featherweight champion Maureen Shea, Will Rosinsky, Curtis Stevens, Sechew Powell, and ISKA and WKA Kick Boxing champion Chris Algeri. Ring announcer David Diamante assembled those fighters present for a center ring photo session which lasted longer than the main event.
