In the first televised light welterweight bout on the undercard to Adamek-Grant at the Prudential Center in Newark, after a five minute break between rounds 1 and 2, Daniel Mitchell quit while standing in his corner following a competitive first round which appeared clean, claiming Jeremy Bryan's shoulder injured his right eye during a clinch. Mitchell poured bottled water into his right eye to try to solve the discomfort but it proved to no avail. Eventually the ringside doctor declared the bout stopped. The pro-Tomas Adamek crowd of nearly 11,000 loudly booed this quick outcome and lack of effort.
