Local fighter Frank Galarza of Brooklyn made his light middleweight debut with a first knockout of Nicholas Morris of North Carolina. After the opening bell, Galarza moved with rapid speed into the corner of Morris, and knocked him with a right-combination at 0:20 of the first. Morris had a defeated look on his face entering the ring, and never raised his hands or defended himself after the opening bell. Galarza was accompanied by his trainer 'Quito' Bracero of Brooklyn, the father of welterweight fighter Gabriel Bracero.
