Chavez built up an early lead in the bout, but Olivera took control in the 4th round, as he opened a deep cut under Chavez's left eye. Olivera maintained control through the 8th round, as Chavez took the last two rounds, to secure the decision. Chavez buckled Olivera's knees in the 10th round with a right to the chin.
