Castillo decisively won the 1st round, with a two-handed attack. Olivera took control of the bout in the 2nd round, as he was able to handle Castillo in the infighting. In the 7th round, Olivera knocked out Castillo's mouthpiece and stung him badly. This appeared to have taken the fight out of Castillo, who appeared tired over the final three rounds. This was considered an upset.
