Buckler was knocked down twice in the 1st round. After some early sparring in the 2nd round, Buckler stunned Scalzo with a blow to the chin. This appeared to only anger Scalzo who dropped Buckler with a right to the jaw for a nine-count. Scalzo quickly hurt Buckler with another right hand, sending him reeling into the ropes, where the bout was stopped.
