Dundee gave a "severe whaling" to O'Leary, according to the Boston Globe. Dundee weakened O'Leary in the bout with right hands to the body. O'Leary made a desperate effort to turn the bout around in the 8th round, but Dundee got the upper hand of the exchanges between the two. O'Leary came out weakend for the 9th round, and a short right hand that would stagger him. A follow up right hand to the body, sent O'Leary reeling to the ropes, where to took a knee. O'Leary rose grasping the ropes, but collapsed from exhaustion, and was counted out.
