Freddie Steele 155 lbs beat Al Rossi 160 lbs by TKO at 1:18 in round 2 of 10

  • Date: 1935-06-11
  • Location: Civic Ice Arena, Seattle, Washington, USA
  • Referee: Tommy McCarty

Steele floored Rossi in the 1st round after hitting with a left hand, followed by a right hand. Rossi took a short count, and then dropped to a knee without being hit after Steele charged in for the kill. Referee McCarty, could have have disqualified Rossi there, but did not. Rossi took another count, rose and appeared wobbly, he did however land a good right hand that appeared to stagger Steele and make him blink. Before the end of the round, Rossi, bobbing and weaving, to avoid Steele's left hook, instead was clipped on the chin by one, and sent down again with his head hitting the floor. The bell rang with him on the floor, and he was helped to his corner by his handlers.

Rossi came out for the 2nd round, appearing to be in bad shape. Steele eventually nailed Rossi with another right hand to the chin, and sent him down yet again. No count was issued, and the bout was stopped.
