Will Connolly of the San Francisco Chronicle gave Chase eight of the ten rounds, but felt it was much closer than that indicated as many of the rounds were fiercely fought. Wade was the aggressor, with the exception of the 8th and 9th rounds, but Chase beat Wade to the punch, and used his footwork to neutralize the left hook of Wade; while scoring with a left of his own.
