Henry Armstrong 125 lbs beat Mike Belloise 125 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

The Los Angeles Times gave Armstrong seven rounds, Belloise one, with two even. Armstrong fought in his usual manner, crowding his opponent and throwing punches at close range. Belloise's best round was the 4th round, when he scored heavily with his right uppercut. Armstrong frequently had Belloise in retreat, and punished him along the ropes.

The Los Angeles Daily News had the bout closer, giving Armstrong five rounds, Belloise, with one even. The Daily News felt that Armstrong was troubled by Belloise who threw punches with abandon. R.A Cronin of the Daily News felt that the 9th round was one of the best rounds you would see in a decade. The Daily News quoted Belloise as saying "Armstrong beat me and he was entitled to the decision."

The New York State Athletic Commission would continue to recognize Belloise as world Featherweight champion despite his loss to Armstrong. John J. Phelan, chairman of the commission, explained that the board recognizes bouts scheduled for 15 rounds as championship encounters and that titles are not at stake in fights over shorter routes.
