Armstrong charged Wright all over the ring, but Wright avoided any trouble as he covered up effectively. Armstrong continued his attack in the 2nd round, and in the middle of the round he trapped Wright in a neutral corner and unleashed an attack with both hands that sank Wright to the canvas for a two-count. In the 3rd a right to the chin sent Wright to his knees for no-count. After Wright rose, Armstrong staggered him with a left that sent him reeling across the ring. Armstrong followed with another flurry, puncuated by a right cross to the jaw that floored Wright for a third time. Wright attempted to beat the count, but was up just after the ten count had been tolled.
