Henry Armstrong 133 lbs beat Lew Feldman 134 lbs by KO at 1:51 in round 5 of 10

  • Date: 1938-03-30
  • Location: Hippodrome, New York, New York, USA
  • For the first two minutes of the 1st round, Feldman circled Armstrong and landed repeatedly with his left hand. Later in the round, Armstong landed a left hook to the jaw, which put Feldman down for a nine count. Feldman recovered, however, and fought well in the 2nd round, fighting toe-to-toe with Armstrong.

Feldman attempted to do more of the same in the 3rd round, Armstrong's power though forced him to retreat, and by the end of the round Feldman was hanging on the ropes. Feldman came out boxing in the 4th round, Armstrong would catch him with a left hook and put him down for another nine count. Feldman covered up and managed to survive the 4th round though. In the 5th, Armstrong charged out after Feldman, who only had enough left to stand and trade. Eventually the two quit fighting at close quarters, and a left hook to the jaw, dropped Feldman near his corner for the ten count.
