Fox suffered a hernia in this fight, before going down twice in the 2nd round and being counted out. This was his last fight, though he did not formally retire. Fox would suffer a stroke in June 1951 that completely incapacitated him. The Twin Falls Times-News, reported that this was his first and last bout in Twin Falls, Idaho. This fight was originally scheduled for December 8, 1950, however Ochea's opponent Ponce de Leon was in jail, prompting the replacement of Fox.
