Bartolo easily controlled the first five rounds, as he cautiously outboxed Armstrong. In the 6th round, Armstrong decided to press the fight, and hurt Armstrong along the ropes. After hitting Armstrong with a barrage of punches, the Boston Globe reported that Bartolo landed a powerful right hand, that sent Armstrong to the canvas face forward. Armstrong had made it to one knee, when he was counted out.
