Dublinsky led by a clear margin after six rounds, as he used his advantage in reach to make Bass miss repeatedly. Bass was able to find his range starting in the 7th round, as he began to close the margin in the bout. In the 8th round, Basss fell to the canvas after missing a wild right hand. Dublinsky appeared to think that he had hurt Bass, and rushed into attack Bass, who was along the ropes. Bass landed a right hand that hurt Dublinsky, and then followed with a left hook, that caused him to touch the canvas, without a count. Dublinsky fought the remainder of the bout hurt, allowing Bass to earn the verdict.
Dublinsky finished the bout with right eye nearly completely swollen shut.
