After an even opening round, Bass controlled the action. The bout was a hammering and slugging bout, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Blitman landed his best punch, a left hand in the 4th round, that shook Bass. Bass began to batter Blitman in the 5th round, and into the 6th round. In the 6th, Bass dropped Blitman with three right hands to the head. Blitman, his right eye closed and cut, rose unsteadily, and was sent reeling with a right to the jaw. Bass, following up, then scored the knockout with a left hook to the jaw.
